Landscape Design of the Year 『建築景觀組年度最大獎』

Winner|Landscape Architecture / Gardens
Winner|Landscape Architecture / Public

Sun Patio-Light Up Shadow

The right to enjoy sunshine is a basic human right enacted by the United Nations. Since the cancellation of Street Shadow Act in 1987, the inaccessibility of light has increased the shadow area of buildings with the increase of population and the floor height, which has made the low-level residents in Hong Kong live in darkness for many years. In a such high cost land as Hong Kong, the open space and the ecological green land are compressed and reduced year by year. The narrow living space and closed visual landscape make residents lose their most basic living needs.

Bioilluminant

The natural resources of ambient light is usually being sacrificed by the tinted window film, but using bioilluminant can solve this problem. In addition to the direction and illuminance of the light can be controlled just like curtains, the water medium also can reduce the temperature conductivity. To make good use of the natural resources and decrease the waste are the main issue that we aim to solve.

Central Park is the most visited urban park in the United States, with 40 million visitors in a year. As a consequence of its location, only a small percentage of people are able to benefit from this vast public garden each day. In an attempt to make this green space available to more people, the proposed design connects the city buildings. In turn, this creates new city space along the exposed ecosystem. However, the ambition is to reverse the traditional relationship between landscape and architecture, in a way that every occupiable space has direct connection to the nature and the city.

After the cross-analysis, the size of the pore opening is determined so that suitable light will enter and the unnecessary or excessive photometry will be masked to reduce the carbon emission of the air-conditioning. This is designed to achieve the function of both energy saving and carbon reduction.

It is about time that government and construction companies should cooperate together to conserve heritage. The development including some facilities: a museum for exhibitions, two laboratories for archaeological or paleontological research, a cafe shop, two studios, and an administration for construction companies to supervise the site. However, Taichung City is still growing up fast right now, but this doesn’t mean the government can lay the issue aside. Therefore, our priority solution is to conserve our local heritage and keep Taichung city developing at the same time.
