Kari Järvinen and Merja Nieminen

 

Kari Järvinen was born in 1940, and graduated from Helsinki University of Technology (HUT) in 1967. He worked independently from 1969 and was in practice with Timo Airas until 2002. He has taught at HUT since 2002 in the Department of Architecture. Merja Nieminen was born in 1953, and graduated from HUT in 1983. Before collaborating with Järvinen, she worked for Vilhelm Helander / Juha Leiviskä, and prior to that in the Helsinki City Planning Office and the public works department of the City of Rauma. They have worked together since 1989. Both of them have been involved in teaching, acted as judges in architectural competitions and been awarded prizes in architectural competitions. Their recent work includes the Strömberg School in Helsinki.
