生平簡介

是畫家、印刷工、建築師和傑出繪畫設計師，於一八九○年生於在俄羅斯的一個猶太家庭，因為他是猶太人，無法受較高等的教育，因而Lissitzky 被送到德國的 Darmstadt 一所 Hochschul 技術學校學習建築（1909-1914），因第一次世界大戰而逃難回到俄國至拉脫維亞的里加科技大學（Riga Polytechnic，1915-16）且獲得建築的學位，這裡便是他成為一個畫家而且設計書本封面和平面設計。

在一九一七年至一九一九年成為猶太書的插圖畫家，他因此而接觸到 Marc Chagal 而被 Chagall 的邀請至一九二一年 在 Vitebsk 美術學校教書後，然後遇見 Kazimir Malevich，對於他的抽象手法印象深刻 。Lissitzky 加入了 UNOVIS  (Affirmers of the New Art) ,聚集了老師、學生以Malevich 的基礎去提升 Suprematism ，而能應用在城市中的街道及廣場，之後，他發展他自已的 Proun 概念：“在繪畫和建築間互換身份”在參與一些美術活動和理論的辯論後，Lissitzky 在一九二一年至一九二五年在德國與荷蘭等地治療他的結核病。

他和 Erste Russische Kunstausstellung 的聯合事務所於一九二二年在柏林第一次對西方國家展示俄羅斯人的抽象藝術，導致他增加和歐洲前衛派合作像 Veshch、G、ABC 和 Merz 等書刊。因為他的 Prouns 和 Proun-rooms 在歐洲展覽，而接觸到風格派（De Stijl）、包浩斯（Bauhaus）等。

在一九二六年回到莫斯科（Moscow），他在高等藝術暨技術學院(Vkhutemas) 倡導空間簡約的傢俱設計，構成主義的住宅等等，並且創辦理性主義建築師的印刷品-現代建築師聯盟新聞 (ASNOVA-News) , 替莫斯科中央出版他的 Wolkenbugel 計畫（“horizontal skyscrapers”地平線上的摩天大樓），晚期他從事競圖與有關建築的寫作如建築重建在前蘇聯「The Reconstruction of Architecture in the Soviet Union」，但最重要的是傑出的應用構成主義和 Suprematist 美學在印刷、繪畫、展示的設計上。
