生平簡介

1929年7月19日生於美國紐約

1947-1950年在紐約的庫柏聯合藝術與建築學院(Cooper Union)修業

1950-1952年在辛辛那堤大學修大學學位

1952-1953在哈佛大學大學取的建築設計碩士學位

1954年前往羅馬大學進修

1951年與Gloria Fiorentino結婚並育有二子

1947-1952年間曾在貝聿銘紐約事務所擔任規劃設計師一職

1954-1956年在德州奧斯丁大學教授建築形式語彙的課程

1958-1960年間在康乃爾大學建築系擔任助理教授

1960年與Peter Eisenman.Michael Graves.Charles Gwathmey及Richard Meier

成立”紐約五人組”(the New York Five),亦或簡稱”白派”(the Whites)

1961-1964年在康乃狄克州的耶魯大學建築系擔任建築設計老師一職

1965年創立個人建築事務所

1964年以後擔任美國庫柏聯合建築與藝術學院教授

1975年擔任美國庫柏聯合建築學院院長

1979年於庫柏聯合建築學院成立專門研究美國建築的學術研究單位

建築成就

1972年與白派其他成員一同出版”五個建築師’一書,主要在批評當時的新聞界大部分的知識份子與第二代建築師的思考方式,在當時的建築界引起了不小的震撼。

黑達克投入建築三十多年來的努力在於多向度找尋形成空間與外在構成的結果,他熱衷於在設計的過程中找尋建築內部不變的本質, 將其作為創作的因循的原則,最後更是由此原則來支持他的設計論點。

黑達克希望能創建一個信念:透過自己給予自己的訓練、透過強烈的求知慾望、透過美學的審核,最後方能心手合一,將內在所欲呈現的想法釋放出來,並能找尋到具說服性的觀點將其外在形式轉換成實質使用的空間。
