生平簡介：
富勒 (Richard Buckminster Fuller) 1895年生於麻塞諸塞州的米爾頓。他不是一般字眼所能形容的建築師，而是20世紀關於機械美學概念的獨特人物其直到近幾年才因其獨特的天份而得到建築專業者的肯定。他所接受的正統教育並不充足且在哈佛的兩年（1913年至1915年）亦未有太多進步。在第一次世界大戰中以海軍軍官服過役和在工、商界工作之後，他於1927年改良了一種可供居住的機器並稱之為“Dymaxion House”即可活動且高效率之意。與經常出現在1920年代歐洲建築上之機器時代的詩般的表現形成對比, 自此以後，富勒投注了許多時間和精力於結構藝術上，並且對當時之建築發展造成極大的迴響。
由於富勒受學生普遍歡迎甚於在建築專業上所建立起的基礎，他成了美國各建築學院中極成功的巡迴演講者。這些大學包括麻省理工學院、加州大學、賓州大學、普林斯頓大學、密西根州大學、及耶魯大學。1952年富勒榮獲美國建築師學會（AIA）紐約支會所頒之榮譽獎，1959年又因其作品獲得美國建築師學會之表揚，成為此國際組織之榮譽會員。

The house used tension suspension from a central column or mast, sold for the price of a Cadillac, and could be shipped worldwide in its own metal tube. Toward the end of WW II, Fuller attempted to create a new industry for mass-producing Dymaxion Houses.

建築成就：
Dymaxion House---此作品以一機器供作生活用，其實用性將遠超過隱喻性。與同時代的歐洲純粹主義傑作和相關的運動不同，他的“Dymaxion House”不以講究美學的因素為最終目的，而其主要觀點在於以一種因生活空間的連結所造成的機械服務設備的組合。在1932年至1935年間，富勒便根據此構想而發展出一種機械化式樣的“三輪自動 Dymaxion”。
結構藝術上之研討---這些研究的結果即為短線圓頂體（Geodesic
Domes），即以金屬,塑膠，甚或用紙板，構成四面體或八面體的結構物。富勒之所以使用圓頂形狀並非是傳統上或建築上的因素－例如，不是因為它們是一“理想的”形狀，而是因為在有關形體包圍之表面積時，圓頂形狀自然具有之效能可以包圍住最大之空間。從泡型建築之使用標準化構件來看，它真可稱得上是承自派克斯頓爵士首度應用於水晶宮（Crystal Palace，建於1851，倫敦）之組合技術。此所有圓頂建物中最大型的一座，乃是聯合坦克公司的修車廠（建於1958年，位於路易斯安那州的Baton
Rouge），此建物之直徑384呎，超過所有十九世紀之所有展覽會館，如1889年巴黎世界博覽會之機械館。在最近這些年來，富勒發展出一新的系統，並名之為“Tenegrity
Structures”（一種張力完整的收縮），此系統之樣本曾於1960年在紐約出現化藝博物館中展出。
